Never Enough Blackberries

Mr. Mims filled up a hole in the field with these two blackberry bushes. It ought to do well in this spot.

We have some wild blackberry bushes growing along the edges of the woods. One year we had a nice crop, enough to make some blackberry jam. But that was it. And I’ve been craving more ever since.

The starters have grown since last summer when I planted them in pots.

Last summer I planted a couple blackberry starters in a couple pots on the deck. They quickly outgrew the pots, so in the Fall Mr. Mims stuck them in a previously treacherous hole in the field. Now they are showing signs of the quickly oncoming spring weather. I’m trying not to anticipate blackberry jam and pie so soon…but…it’s hard…
